Veterans Day Picnic at the Post Saturday, November 9

eterans Day is a time for us to unite in respect for those who have served.

Originally called Armistice Day, the federal holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service. It fell on November 11 to coincide with the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I — “on the 11th hour of the 11th month in 1918.” (military.com) However, in 1954, the day became Veterans Day to account for all veterans in all wars.

Since this year’s Veterans Day falls on a Monday, the Picnic at the Post will be Saturday the 9th. Veterans eat free. For the general public, hot dog plates will be $5, and hamburger plates $10. Join us for food and fellowship between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
