Cooks Age 60 and Over Invited to Join Recipe Contest

The DeKalb County Transportation and Council on Aging invites residents 60 and older to enter the upcoming recipe contest for a chance to be included in a statewide cookbook. DeKalb will be allowed to submit one winner for each of the five categories listed below. Winning DeKalb recipes will be submitted to the Alabama Department of Senior Services for their cookbook, which will be released around May 2025.

Submissions must be from DeKalb residents ages 60 and older and are due to the Council on Aging by December 13.
The council will choose one winner from each of the following recipe categories:

  • Bread/Roll/Biscuit
  • Entree
  • Side
  • Dessert
  • Appetizer/Drink (miscellaneous)

If you would like a paper copy, you can get one beginning November 20 at your closest DeKalb County Senior Center or the Council on Aging (600 Tyler Ave. SE, Fort Payne, AL).
