Grants Support Arts Council’s Summer Music Series and Follow Your Art

The Little River Arts Council (LRAC) proudly received grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to support the Summer Music Series and Follow Your Art! This generous funding ensures that the Summer Music Series remains a free, vibrant community event and provides vital resources for Mentone’s only judged art festival, Follow Your Art.

Our December/January Make Your Mark on Mentone artist, Katelyn Boozer. Katelyn said that she chose this image because she and her family like to bake over the Christmas holidays.
The Summer Music Series features monthly concerts from May through August, offering an unforgettable celebration of music and community on the grounds of Mentone Inn.
Membership Matters
Mentone is not only celebrated for its natural beauty but also as a hub where creativity thrives, warmly welcoming creators and collectors alike. At the heart of this artistic spirit is LRAC, which has been nurturing creativity since 2006. Membership plays a vital role in sustaining this mission. By joining LRAC, you contribute more than just financial support for its projects — you make a powerful statement that echoes throughout the community, affirming the belief that “art is for everyone.” As you consider becoming a member, the following are some common questions:
What are my membership dues used for?
Membership dues are the foundation of LRAC’s operation. This money covers the non-profit organization’s normal operating expenses.
Why are membership numbers important to an arts council?
More members means a more active, engaged community. Further, it signals to potential grant funding sources that the council is a thriving organization with widespread community involvement — and grant funding is critical to LRAC’s programming.
Do I have to be an artist to join LRAC?
Not at all! If you enjoy the arts, please join us! We believe strongly in our slogan, “art is for everyone.” Your support will help LRAC continue to foster the visual, performing, and literary arts in the Mentone area.
Is LRAC only for residents of Mentone?
No. Our mission is to “enrich the quality of life for people in Mentone and neighboring communities.” Plus, many of our members are property owners and visitors to the Mentone area.
And how do you accomplish that?
The rest of our mission statement reads, “by raising funds for the arts; sponsoring events; providing educational opportunities; and strengthening cultural resources for the benefit of all businesses and citizens in the Mentone area.”
What are the available membership levels?
Dues are reasonable to make membership available to everyone, with higher levels for those who want to provide greater support to LRAC: Student: $10; Individual: $25; Family: $40; Supporter: $100; Patron: $250; Sustainer: $500; Benefactor $1000 +
Does membership benefit artists directly?
Absolutely! Membership with the LRAC provides artists with several direct benefits. Member artists are invited to showcase their work at the Little River Art Gallery, gain early access to information about upcoming events and grant opportunities, and enjoy discounted fees for participating in festivals. Additionally, they are featured in the Artist Registry section of the LRAC website, offering greater visibility within the community and beyond.
Any other reasons to join?
Still on the fence about becoming an LRAC member? Your membership plays a vital role in supporting the arts by providing essential operational funding for local artists and arts organizations. It also enables the creation of innovative arts programs for children and adults in our community. Plus, as a member, you’ll enjoy exclusive invitations to fun social events and the annual membership meeting. You’ll also stay in the loop with the latest arts news and events through our email newsletter. Joining LRAC is more than a membership — it’s a way to make a meaningful impact!
As we begin the new year, we’d like to say a special thank you to our current members (the list below is current as of 1/15/2025). We’d love to add your name to our list!
