Library to Host Workshop on Creativity

On Fridays in March, Ruth Ferraz will offer a series of classes in her Workshop on Creativity, focusing on the work of Betty Edwards, author of “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.” The classes will be held at Moon Lake Library each Friday at 2 p.m.. Pre-registration is required, as there will be a limited number of seats.

Ruth Ferraz
Ferraz was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where in 1994, she took a course on the methodology of Betty Edwards. She credits that course with unlocking her gifts as an artist, as she soon began to practice drawing and oil painting.
Already a physical education teacher with a master’s degree, she studied Edwards’ work on creativity and drawing, as well as texts such as Paul Dennison’s work on the “Brain Gym” and other physical exercise to connect the brain hemispheres and the body. Out of this study came her workshop.
Ferraz believes that “the main goal of art should be to bring to mankind the good, the beautiful, and the pure.” She invites those who connect with this idea and who want to develop both life skills and their artistic ability to participate in the course at Moon Lake Library.
All classes are free and open to participants 13 years old and up. Call the library at 256-634-2127 to register or email books@moonlakelibrary.org.
Class Schedule:
March 7 – Hemispheres of the Brain and their Functions
March 14 – The Importance of the Eyes and Body Coordination
March 21 – Inner Child and Childhood Artistry
March 28 – Perceiving Edges and Spaces
