First NACC Art Class at Moon Lake a Big Success

Last month, we finished our first class, “Art: Introduction to Mediums.” Twelve students participated, and we all had so much fun meeting every Monday and creating art together.

Working with Northeast Alabama Community College has been an incredible honor. My students and I explored many different art mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, mosaics, and clay. I was incredibly lucky to have such an amazing class of students and artists who were willing to have fun, let loose, and try out new subjects together.

Beyond exploring art, the class was a great way to build community and get to know one another on a weekly basis, forming friendships I will always appreciate. I am grateful for NACC, what it stands for, and for the work it is doing for our community. Dr. David Campbell and his staff have created a space where education and development can continue at Moon Lake, our community’s beautiful school. The building continues to serve its purpose, and being a teacher and participant in the overall vision has been a gift and blessing.

And the work continues. NACC is hosting a homesteading class this summer and is always looking for more skills and curricula that the community might benefit from or want to experience. The college is open to suggestions and would love to hear feedback from the Mentone community. Make your voice heard when it comes to continuing education.
