What Do Your Kids Need From the Library?

We need your input to shape Moon Lake Library’s services for children. For the past four years, we have offered free Little Library Learners programs of storytime, games, songs, videos, and outdoor activities. The topics ranged from nature, history, kindness, community building, and art, just to name a few. Initially, separate programs were offered to kids ages 3-6 years and 7-9 years. In the past two years, we have catered to the 3- to 6-year-olds and changed the date and time. We recognize that families have kids of all ages and lots of extracurricular activities competing for the family schedule. And as the kids aged out, we have had fewer attendees.
How Can We Help?
We are here to support our community, especially in the area of reading, the key to most school learning. So how can we help you and your kids? Is it through storytime, homework help, or tutoring in small groups or individually? We have many former teachers and librarians who are ready to help, but we need to better understand your specific needs. What school topics are your kids struggling with? Is reading comprehension holding them back? Are math skills challenging?
Ideally, we would offer services for free, at times convenient for your family during library hours (Tues-Fri 12-4:30 p.m. and Sat 10 a.m. -1 p.m.). Now is the time to kick off the school year right. Please let us know how we can help your kids have fun learning! Contact us at info@moonlakelibrary.org or contact Lynn Vanderhoff at 404-783-6771.
