Library to Host Blues Legend Alabama Annie

Moon Lake Library will host Alabama Annie on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. Annie has been playing her original tunes and traditional blues on piano and guitar for more than 35 years at festivals, clubs, and private venues, working with the legendary Johnny Shines, Gadsden’s own Jerry Boogie McCain, and others, as well as visiting dignitaries such as John Brim, Pinetop Perkins, and John Lee Hooker.

Drawing from her roots in North Alabama and the Old Home Place beside Historic U.S. Highway 11, the old railroad line between Chattanooga and Birmingham and beautiful Lookout Mountain, she has spent a lot of time playing the blues and spinning her tales in Memphis on historic Beale Street, and for the last few years in Santa Cruz, California, as well as the Bay Area with her son Chas and his band, the Nagging Doubts, there in the stomping ground of the Legendary Pinetop Perkins, John Lee Hooker, Robert Lowrey, and Virgil Thrasher. Her stories and songs tell you a tale of trains and hobos, ghosts beside the river, and star-crossed lovers wandering in the moonlight.
