Take These Steps to Help Manage Stress

Too much stress can affect your physical and mental health. Below are some steps you can take each day to help you feel calmer and in control.

  • Move your body: Physical activity like walking, stretching, or other light exercise releases feel-good endorphins and helps reduce stress hormones.
  • Get enough rest: Aim for seven or more hours of sleep nightly, and try to go to bed and wake up at a consistent time to support healthier stress levels.
  • Take breaks from the news and screen time: It can help to step back from constant updates. Negative information can intensify feelings of stress.
  • Connect with others: Share your feelings with friends, family, or trusted community members. Talking through your feelings can ease emotional burden.
  • Practice gratitude: Write down a couple of things you’re thankful for each day. It’s a simple habit that can boost mood and build resilience.
