Happy 250th Anniversary, America!
This July, our beautiful republic celebrates 250 years of history – an amazing milestone marked by courage, perseverance, growth, and change. As we reflect on where we’ve been as a nation, it seems impossible to ignore the complexity of the world around us. International conflicts, economic concerns, and an endless stream of information can leave many of us feeling uncertain about what lies ahead.
Perhaps this anniversary offers us an opportunity to remember something important: resilience is not new. For 250 years, generations of Americans have faced challenges they never expected. They adapted, endured, learned, and continued moving forward. While we can’t control everything happening in the world, we can choose how we respond. We can stay informed without becoming overwhelmed. We can care deeply without carrying burdens that were never ours to bear alone. We can remain hopeful without pretending life is perfect. We can allow for differences of opinion without judgment or reprisal.
And, as we celebrate our nation’s journey, we can also honor our own.
- Honor the challenges you’ve navigated, and may still be navigating today.
- Honor the losses you’ve survived and allow the ebb and flow of understandable grief.
- Honor the lessons you’ve learned, because they bring wisdom and patience.
- Honor the courage it takes to remain openhearted in a complicated world… possibly the most challenging of all.
The strength of a nation is found not only in its history, but in the people who continue to show up each day with resilience, compassion, and hope. The founders of this great republic couldn’t have imagined the world we live in today. Yet they understood something timeless — that hope is not the absence of difficulty. Hope is the decision to keep building, keep believing, and keep participating in life despite uncertainty. As fireworks light the sky this month, may we celebrate both the glorious country we call home and the quiet strength within ourselves that helps us keep moving forward.
Happy 250th Anniversary, America. May we continue to meet the future with wisdom, gratitude, and grace.
