Thank you for supporting MERF!

The Mentone Educational Resources Foundation (MERF) appreciates all the support from individuals, businesses, and organizations both near and far. Our mission to enrich the local community is fulfilled only through the combined efforts of our supporters, board members, and staff. It is a group effort, a labor of love.

Church Street Wine Shoppe manager Hannah Clough hands off artwork to winner Dorma Hutcheson.

Church Street Wine Shoppe is well known in the Huntsville area for supporting the arts and nonprofits. Recently, they exhibited work by artist Gary Pritts, who chose MERF to receive funds raised during the exhibit, including the silent auction of a painting. Dorma Hutcheson, long-time MERF supporter and former board member, was the lucky winner of “Kit Foxes.” MERF appreciates Dorma, Gary, and the Church Street family, especially downtown manager Hannah Clough, for working together and raising funds to advance our mission.

In July, girls from Camp DeSoto’s Phoebe community service project hosted MERF seniors for a fun social at The Farm at Windy Hill. Songs were sung, refreshments were enjoyed, and bingo was played by many! MERF appreciates everyone who helped make this happen.

On August 21, MERF will have another summer senior social at Moon Lake Baptist Church. We invite all local seniors to join us for a fun time. There are no costs and no income requirements. These socials and lunches are provided for relaxation and for educational activities relevant to this age group. We always look forward to this time together.

Once again, thank you to all those who help MERF enrich the community and enhance rural education. MERF is a 501(c)(3). Visit our website at MERFhouse.org. Y
