Activities and Improvements

If you missed the first Valley Head movie night, you missed a fun time. Over 50 people attended our inaugural event. Adults and children alike enjoyed the movie. I certainly enjoyed the movie, but I loved all the thank-you hugs from the children even more.

Thank you to Valley Head Baptist Church, Pastor Young, Lisa Smith Powell, and their volunteers for providing free popcorn! Valley Head Volunteer Fire Department raised over $300 that evening from their hot dog cookout. The town looks forward to hosting more movie nights and purchasing our own big screen in the future.

The town held its second monthly “Hot Rods in the Valley” event on Saturday, August 24th. It was another great success with even more vendors and cars. Be sure to join us for the remaining events of this year, set for September 27th and October 26th. Plan to eat dinner at the New Tiger’s Inn during these events. During the October event, we will also have a trunk or treat for everyone. Please call the Town Hall for more information on this fun annual event.

The look and safety of our community are being improved by the work taking place around town. Commerce Avenue curbs have been repaired. A handicap ramp with a handrail has been added near the office of North DeKalb Primary Health. Electrical outlets in the old football field have all been upgraded. The restrooms in Valley Head Park have received several improvements, including electrical updates and new lighting. We hope these improvements instill pride in the town and encourage respect when people use these facilities so that maintenance costs are reduced.

New Rapid Response Vehicle for the Valley Head Fire Department.

The Valley Head Fire Department is very proud of the new Rapid Response Vehicle. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 Custom is fully equipped with lights and sirens. It will prove useful on a variety of calls to serve the community.

The Valley Head Town Council meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. A work session begins at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend both. If you would like to address the council, please contact Town Hall no later than four business days prior to the meeting to complete the proper paperwork.
