Exciting Changes in the Works for Legion Post 215

The American Legion Post 215 plans a revitalization over the coming months, not only in the form of membership renewal, but also facility improvement and additional communications aimed at providing critical information to veterans.

We are welcoming existing members to renew, reaching out to prospective members, making new connections throughout the community, and building relationships with city and state organizations. We’re also updating our technological capabilities. For example, we’ve created a new Facebook page and archived our previous page for historical purposes. We have moved our meetings to the second Tuesday of the month and with installation of internet services, we will offer a virtual option using Google Meet. Access to the virtual meeting is by an invitation sent to your email address. A new social hour will provide an opportunity for veterans to talk about topics that are important to them, such as entitlements, health benefits, and disability compensation through the Veterans Administration.

Upcoming physical upgrades include: adding lighting to our flags, stairs, and sign; winterizing our post building; creating a space where our future veteran service officer and current post officers can assist veterans with compensation and disability claims and where training can take place; installing fencing; and better utilization of the entire property.

We’ll have several surprise upgrades coming to our post this June. Also, we are in the process of clarifying the appropriate laws that we are required to follow concerning hosting BINGO at our post. Stay tuned for details of upcoming events and for chances to win items at specific events.

We thank all who support veterans in our local communities — it doesn’t go unnoticed. As always, God bless America and our veterans.
