May Is the Bridge to Summer
As May unfolds, we find ourselves drawn a little closer to nature, taking easy walks through the parks or spending time with our hands in the dirt as we tend our gardens.
The air feels softer, the days stretch longer, and life all around us begins to bloom in stunning, yet imperceptibly steady ways. In this season, we’re encouraged to notice not only the growth happening in our mountain environment, but also the growth within ourselves.
Across cultures and traditions, May has long been associated with renewal, abundance, and the nurturing of new life. It’s a time when what we’ve planted begins to take root, reminding us that growth requires patience, care, and intention. This is a powerful season for mindfulness. Just as a garden doesn’t flourish without attention, neither do the parts of ourselves that long for healing and expression. May offers us opportunities to gently release old habits, outdated beliefs, and ways of being that no longer support who we’re becoming. In their place, we can begin planting new seeds rooted in self-awareness, compassion, and possibility. May is, at its heart, a month of renewal, a gentle invitation to tend to ourselves with the same care we might offer a growing garden.

There is also a natural balance present in this time of year. May serves as a bridge between the freshness of spring and the warmth of summer, holding both the energy of beginnings and the promise of what is to come. It reminds us to find rhythm in our own lives, balancing work and rest, action and reflection, ambition and contentment.
In this balance, we seek to create harmony not only within ourselves, but in our relationships and the spaces we inhabit. With more awareness, we begin to see how deeply interconnected everything is — our thoughts, our actions, our environment, and one another. Through reflection, presence, and intention, we can nurture emotional and physical healing and step more fully into the lives we are creating.
Perhaps this is also a time to sit quietly with yourself and notice what is ready to grow, and what is ready to be released. Sometimes, simply putting pen to paper can reveal what has been waiting patiently beneath the surface. In the stillness, clarity often finds its way in.
