Municipal Elections Set for Tuesday, August 26

Cities and towns across Alabama will hold elections this month to choose the women and men who will lead their municipalities for the next four years.

Elections are set for Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Locally, Mentone and Valley Head will each have one council seat on their ballots.

For the Town of Mentone, incumbent Place 4 Councilman Ray Padgett is being challenged by Gene Beck. This will be the only race on the ballot. Incumbent Mayor Rob Hammond, along with incumbent Councilmen John Verdon, David Allgood, Hobson Kirby, and Gerald Bailey, face no opposition.

The Mentone Arts Center on Alabama Highway 117 is the polling place for Mentone.

For the Town of Valley Head, Anna Mae Horn and Scott Pepper are vying for the open Place 5 seat. This will be the only race on the ballot. Incumbent Mayor Karen Vest and incumbent Councilman Lyndall Elkins face no opposition. The following individuals qualified for their respective open seats with no opposition: Easton Bailey, Place 1; John Chambers, Place 2; and Nathan Owen, Place 3.

The Town Hall at 41 Anderson Street is the polling place for Valley Head. Y
