Name The Groundhog Mascot!
Your favorite community newspaper now has a live mascot!
If you attended the Groundhog Day Community Celebration last month, you saw the debut of our new mascot. Kids and adults alike loved dancing and interacting with the life-sized critter. The mascot also made an appearance at the February Mentone Town Council meeting, handing out Valentine’s Day candies to our elected officials and attendees.
But our mascot is missing something — a name! Submit your ideas for the playful critter’s moniker. If we select your idea*, you’ll receive a free year’s subscription to The Groundhog, plus one night’s stay at the Mentone Inn Bed and Breakfast!**

If the groundhog’s job is looking for his shadow, why not Dark Shadows and call him Barnabas!
I chose the name LOOKOUT for the mascot, for 2 reasons… First, because it references all the área that is served by the Groundhog newspaper….. Second, because that name will serve well, regardless of whether the mascot is male or female !!
I would love to see him named “Midgley” after Holley . It’s a cute name and Holley lived and supported all things Mentone .
I think Gary the Groundhog would be a cute name for the Groundhog.
