That’s a Wrap! First Summer Theater Camp a Success

The Lookout Performing Arts Company (formerly Mentone Springs Performing Arts Studios) recently concluded its inaugural weeklong summer theater camp. Fifteen children, ages 6–14, from Mentone; Fort Payne; Tuscaloosa; Richmond, Virgina; and beyond gathered for a five-day musical theater intensive led by Director Lee Bailey.

In just four days of rehearsal, campers learned the fundamentals of auditions, stage makeup, stage directions, theater etiquette, choreography, and the value of working together as an ensemble. Their week culminated in a public performance featuring four group numbers and seven solo performances.

The company extends its sincere appreciation to Mentone Community Church for graciously providing rehearsal and performance space throughout the week. Their generosity helped create a welcoming environment where young artists could learn, grow, and perform. Special thanks also go to resident makeup artist Ruthie Wagner, who generously shared her time and expertise, introducing campers to the art of stage makeup and helping each performer feel ready to shine under the lights.

The camp concluded with a standing-room-only audience of family, friends, and community members whose enthusiastic support underscored the important role the arts play in enriching the lives of children.
