The Friendliness of our Town Is on Full Display this Month

As June arrives, Mentone once again prepares to welcome thousands of visitors for the summer camp season. For generations, summer camps have been an important part of our community’s story, and we always look forward to seeing familiar faces return while also greeting many young campers who will experience Mentone’s natural beauty and community spirit for the first time.

During the coming weeks, you’ll notice campers and counselors walking along our sidewalks, crossing streets, riding bikes, visiting local shops, and enjoying all that makes our town special. We encourage everyone to slow down, stay alert while driving, and help us keep our streets safe for these young visitors.

One of the things that makes Mentone special is the friendliness of our community. When you see campers, counselors, and their families around town, take a moment to offer a smile, a wave, or a simple “welcome to Mentone.” Many parents and family members spend a few days here while dropping off or visiting campers, and we hope they leave with wonderful memories of our town, our hospitality, and our beautiful mountain community.

Speaking of pedestrians, our sidewalk expansion project is complete except for the installation and activation of the crosswalk lights. This should happen in the coming weeks. Sometime this summer, we will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of this project. Sidewalks are much more than a recreational feature. They support economic development for the businesses along the route. They bring visitors into town. They promote a healthy lifestyle. With our unique shops, friendly citizens, and beautiful environment, these sidewalks bring residents and visitors alike closer to all the things that make Mentone such a special place to visit and to call home.
