With Spring Comes Hope

On my lingering in the garden today, I’m reminded that there is always an expectation of delight…a desire for abundance, vision for new growth, and aspirations for healing.

Each time I lay a seed in the soil, I’m putting these ideas in motion. When my plants show up, no matter how small, there is a desire and a level of trust that they will thrive.

Last year, I pruned an apple tree that had been floundering. It wasn’t producing blossoms or fruit. I wondered if it would survive such a brutal assault.

Happily, the tree has not only survived, but is robust and producing more blossoms than ever before!

In my life experience, when I’ve pruned away beliefs and people and things that are keeping me from blossoming and producing amazing gifts to the world, I’ve noticed that I not only don’t die from the pruning, but I become stronger and more confident in my being.

I grow more into the authentic person I’m meant to be, like the cherished apple tree that I nourish with food and love.

There definitely have been times in my life when my level of expectation and hope was at a low level.

Those have been the times when I most needed to walk in my garden. That’s where I feel the magic of something greater than myself and see examples of hope, as new growth pushes through the soil and flowers blossom.

I am continually encouraged by the lessons I learn from the plants. They teach me that no matter what the weather is, or the terrain of life might be, there is always hope for a brighter future…of green, luscious vegetation and new possibilities.

May the magic of nature and the mysteries of spirit bring you hope. May this spring be an exquisite time of new growth and wonder in your life.
