Groundhog Volunteer Hero: Susan Noel

Susan Noel

Originally from Meridian, Mississippi, Susan Noel moved to Lookout Mountain at age 9 and has called it home ever since. A retired educator, she spent over 30 years teaching elementary science and reading at Menlo School, a job she adored. And her passion for serving others remains as strong as ever.

Susan has spent many hours in service to her community, including serving as a Friends of Moon Lake Library Board member. She also has given her time reorganizing books on the shelves and alphabetizing the popular donated used titles. These days you’ll also find her working behind the front desk, assisting patrons and ensuring the library remains a welcoming space for all.

Her pride in the library shows in her smile when she speaks about it: “It’s such a community center that welcomes everyone and has something for everybody,” Susan says.

In addition to her library work, Susan volunteers weekly at the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry, continuing her mission to support her community in any way she can. Susan’s contributions make her a true hero.
