Groundhog Volunteer Hero: Rand Hall

This month, The Groundhog proudly celebrates Rand Hall as our Volunteer Hero. Originally from New York, Rand spent 35 years in Florida, where she served as editor and publisher of The Gazette, a news magazine on Florida’s west-central coast. For the past 20 years, she has called Mentone home — and has become a cornerstone of its caring community.
For the last three years, Rand has volunteered as a server at the MERF Senior Lunch Program, one of her favorite activities. “I love meeting new people,” she says. “It’s a great way to get to know folks and cater to them — and everybody needs that, right?” Her joy in feeding and connecting with others truly makes her a nourisher of the community.
Rand has also lent her helping hands to the Monday Meals Program at Mentone Community Church and serves faithfully at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, where she’s an active member of the Episcopal Church Women and a regular volunteer in church ministries.
At home, Rand enjoys the companionship of her beloved Siberian Forest cat, Grayson. We thank Rand for her generous heart, nurturing spirit, and dedication to making Mentone a warmer, more caring place for all.
