Miracle Pottery Returns with a Renewed Vision

After a 2023 fire forced its closure, Miracle Pottery is reopening its doors, bringing renewed energy and its unique artistry back to our community. The pottery shop, owned by Valinda Miracle, is making a fresh start after the tragic loss of the property’s Tree House Cottages and the pottery showroom.

For Jess Goggans, beloved local musician and the shop’s marketing and expansion coordinator, the reopening is more than a business milestone — it’s a story of resilience and community.

“It’s really just one of those things,” Goggans said. Goggans had run into Miracle at the New Tiger’s Inn recently. “She’d [Valinda] had a stroke and now she’s starting to feel better. She said, ‘I sure would like to open my pottery shop back up.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’d love to help you.’ And so we did.”

A Careful Rebuild

While the reopening celebration has already taken place, Miracle Pottery is still in the process of rebuilding its full showroom and expanding its offerings. Regular hours are expected to begin in April, likely the first weekend of the month, with the shop open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Behind the scenes, production is underway. Each piece of pottery takes roughly two to three weeks to create, making the rebuilding process both hands-on and time-intensive.

Old Meets New

The reopening will feature a blend of past and present work. Some pieces that survived the fire are being preserved as part of what Goggans calls the “Resurrection Collection,” offering customers a tangible connection to the shop’s history and survival. At the same time, Miracle Pottery is introducing new work, including a “Hemlock Series,” representing the next generation of the brand. Not all previous designs will return, as certain glazes and techniques are being retired in favor of new creative directions.

Expanding the Experience

The vision for Miracle Pottery extends beyond its previous scope. Goggans said the shop plans to incorporate live music and a food truck called Easy as Pie, expected to launch in May. The menu will feature a variety of sweet and savory pies, adding another layer to the visitor experience. “We’re going to be introducing music and doing all kinds of different things. So it’s going to be really fun,” she said.

Additionally, Miracle Pottery plans to offer an online platform where shoppers can browse the catalog and purchase pieces beyond the physical storefront.

The reopening represents more than the return of a business. It is a symbol of resilience characteristic of our mountain. Fire has claimed a handful of beloved structures and businesses over the years. As Miracle Pottery begins its next chapter, the focus is not only on rebuilding what was lost, but on creating something new that is rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and community.
